Welcome to the brand new Epiphany Art Community, friends! I'm so excited that you're here. If you don't know me, I'm Beth. I've been officially blogging since 2007 (not counting a couple of years of LiveJournaling!), and am the mixed media artist behind the healing, whimsical creations of Epiphany Art Studio. I named both my art shop and this community "Epiphany Art" because that is exactly what making art feels like to me -- a heart-opening revelation from God.
It is my hope that this will become a thriving community for those who are interested in exploring faith and creativity together. I have been taking art ecourses and participating in online art communities for a number years now, and while they have been extremely valuable and enjoyable, I've always felt a bit of a lack because these courses and communities did not share my faith. I absolutely do not feel that Christians should only do "Christian things" or read "Christian books" or talk to "Christian people," and do not live that way. But making art (as well as writing) often is a very spiritual experience for me, and sometimes I long to talk about that experience with folks who are on the same spiritual page as me.
And then I got to thinking . . . I can't be the only one who feels that way.
From there, the Made ecourse was born (the course starts September 1, but you can join in any time! details here). And out of that, this community came into being. Because I didn't want to create a one-time standalone experience with Made -- I want to create a lasting, engaging, soulful community of folks who love Jesus and want to explore how that love intersects with their creativity.
So . . . now what?
Well, that's up to you! This community is free to join and use, although some of the courses (only Made at the moment) are paid. There's lots of little nooks to explore here:
- please review our guidelines to help make this a safe + sacred space
- get to know your fellow explorers in the forums
- share your creations
- explore the classrooms
- give or receive prayer
- check out Made 2013
If you have any questions, post them in the forum. I'm so glad you're here!
